Using Social Networking Websites

Do you own or operate your own website? With the rising popularity of the internet, there is a good chance that you do. A large number of internet users run their own personal websites, but others run their websites as a way to make money. Of course, any website owner wishes to promote their online website, but those who rely on their websites for income, are more willing to. Whichever type of website you have, did you know that you could help to promote it with online social networking websites? If you are wondering how and why you should use social networking websites to promote your online website, you are not alone. A fairly large numbers of internet users aren't even sure what social networking sites are or how they work. Online social networking websites are like online communities. They give internet users an easy and fairly safe way to come together. Many social networking websites are designed to make it easier for you to search for and make contact with other internet users, especially those that you have something in common with.

With a fairly large number of social networking websites, including MySpace, having over a millions users, there is a good chance that you could not only make new friends, but find internet users that would be interested in visiting your online website, especially if that website is your personal website. When joining an online networking community, you should be given your own profile page. On this page you could not only describe yourself, your online website. By mentioning what your personal online webpage is all about and providing a link, you should receive a number of new visitors.

As previously mentioned, social networking websites can benefit all website owners, but especially those who are looking to make a profit with their websites. This can be done one of two ways, by selling something or by relying on revenue from advertising. If you have a website that selling products or services, you may find it a little bit easier to use social networking sites to your advantage. This is because, if you wish, you could do product or service spotlights. Each day, week, or month, you could showcase one of the products or services that your website sells. This could either be done right on your profile page or on a blog page, which is provided by most social networking websites.

If you are using your online website to make money with advertising programs, such as affiliate programs or Google Adsense, you may need to approach social networking websites in a different matter. Since you will not necessarily have a particular product or service to focus on, you will need to approach these websites as if they were personal websites. If your website discusses being a dog owner, it may be a good idea to state your love for dogs in your profile. After doing so, it would be acceptable and not necessarily considered spam to add a link to your online website. As with all other types of online websites, social networking websites should help to increase the number of page views your website receives. In most cases, more page views mean more clicks which means money for you.

As you can easily see, there are a number of different ways that you can promote your online website, no matter what type of website you have or what you use it for. By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should be able to see an increase in your page views, in no time at all.

Mistakes To Avoid When Using Web Templates

By: WAHMBizDomains.com

Website templates are very affordable and they save you a lot of effort and time when you want to create a new layout for your website. However, a lot of people make mistakes in the process of choosing and using a web template and end up with something that was unlike the image they had in mind. Here are some guidelines to help you avoid those mistakes. The first obvious mistake you should be aware of is using a template that is very popular. If many people use the same template, your website will not appear unique at all and your credibility as a solid, different website will be tarnished. In other words, you will appear generic just like your next-door neighbors. To whole point of using a web template is to save time and effort. You just change the title and appropriate details and you're done. The biggest mistake one makes is to customize the template beyond recognition. While that may be good in the sense that you're creating a unique graphic, you're defying the very purpose of using a web template -- saving time and effort. However, on the opposite side, if a template you purchase is suitable but some changes must be made to suit your site's theme, then you will have to take some time to make the changes. For example, you can find a very nice template that suits your hobby site except the original designer has put an image of stamps in the header. You can find images of garden plants and spades to replace the stamps for your gardening hobby site. However, do only make the necessary changes and don't redesign the whole template In some circumstances, some people simply make the wrong choice of templates. This is a very subjective issue but you have to be careful in selecting templates to suit your audience. Do not choose templates just because they are pretty, choose them because they serve your purpose.

How to Find a Direct Sales Business that Works for You!

by Megan G. of GoWrap.itworks.net

As an independent distributor working in direct sales, I am always looking for people to join my team. However, more often than not I will hear people say that they don't think they have the time to run their own business. I've worked with several direct sales companies over the past ten years, and so I know how time consuming (if not life consuming!) some companies can be. Because of that, I took great care to find a company that fits my life and goals.

Here are some things that you should thoroughly research before signing up with any company (and contact multiple sources to verify information if you desire):

  • Quotas: What are you expected to sell every month? If you don't sell that amount, will you get paid at all? And if you don't make the quota, do you get kicked out or sent back to square one?
  • Products and Deliveries: I'm very fortunate to have found a company where we don't carry stock to resell (just samples), and all of our orders are done individually, online and sent directly to the customer, which gives me the option to sell to anyone, anywhere. I know from experience that some companies do it differently. So, some things to think about are how much you can afford to invest in products to resell upfront and how much time delivering products might take out of your schedule.
  • Pay: What is your cut out of what you sell? Do you get it all upfront, or is it sent to you via a check each month? The person who signed me up for my first direct sales company got me so confused on the details that I never ended up getting paid a penny for all the things I sold!
  • Market: Who else is selling similar products (or working with the same company near you)? If you're selling something that can be found cheaper and is easier to get from a store, you may have a difficult time getting clientele. Likewise, if you are entering into a popular business, go onto their website and search for distributors in your area. By doing this, you can get a visual for how saturated the market is where you're at (which is very important for companies where all orders have to be placed and delivered locally).
  • Distributor Sign Up Fees: We've all opened up certain catalogs or websites and seen distributor sign up specials, and some seem too good to pass up. However, companies with very cheap sign up fees often have a lot of distributors to compete against. No matter what someone might tell you, simple economics state that there is a limited amount of demand for every product. To the contrary, a sign up fee of several hundred dollars is something that not as many people are willing to take a chance on, and so there will be fewer distributors to compete against for clients. While it may not be for you, just be aware that the lower the initial cost to sign up is, the more people that will be selling.
  • Liability: Are you expected to have insurance for yourself? Who will be at legal fault if a product causes a negative reaction for a client, or a defective product causes some kind of harm? In most cases it will be the company, but this is something you will want to know for certain before something like that should happen.
  • Do You Love What You'd Sell?: If you're selling fine art via direct sales, and you hate art and have no interest in learning it, that's going to shine through to your clients. If the products aren't things that you would buy or get excited about, it can be hard to convince other people to do the same. I had a friend who sold make up, but thought it was too expensive to buy for herself, and this led to constant embarrassment in front of clients who would ask her what shade of lipstick or eyeshadow she had on. Find something that you're knowledgeable and passionate talking about, and that can easily end up being one of the best sales aids you ever have.
While there are a lot of factors that make the perfect match between a direct sales associate and a company, ultimately the responsibility falls on you to know what you're getting into. It can be hard, but don't let anyone get away with not answering your questions, because this is your money, your future, and your success. Any reputable business will easily be able to tell you whatever you need to know, so take charge!

Twitter Abbreviations To Shorten Your Marketing Tweets

There have been so many times where I wanted to say a whole lot more than 140 characters on Twitter. We've all been there! And honestly, that amount of space IS quite a bit to convey a message. However, there are many that simply don't agree. Still, we all have to abide by that one limit.

There are many clever abbreviations we can use to shorten up tweets. Most people like short and to the point. Make it a long, long message and folks often get lost in it. And what do they do? They move on!

You of course want people to stay long enough to read your post. I know for myself, on a website for example...if there is a super long welcome message, I will most often click away. However on Twitter, the platform takes care of that issue. We have 140 characters, use them wise!

Below is a handful of abbreviations, link and tweet shorteners, for your use

DM = direct message

RT = retweet

LOL = laugh out loud

BTW= by the way

b4 = before

1 = one, won

2 = to, too, two

fab = fabulous

fave = favorite

GR8 = great

FB = facebook

FYI = for your information

LMK = let me know

peeps = people

plz = please

TYT = take your time

Tweeple = twitter people

JK j/k = just kidding

K = okay

IMHO = in my humble opinion

IC = I see

fwd = forward

Shortening Links

The links we use on Twitter can be very long. Fortunately there are many link shortening services at our disposal. I prefer bit.ly, as I have it in my favorites so all I have to do is click and enter my URL, and click shorten, and it instantly gives me the shortened version.

However, there are various shorteners I see others using, as there are a lot of alternatives. Below are a few I have listed for your convenience.
